Carmen Walker

Originally from Chambersburg, PA, Carmen entered the optical field while still in high school, working for family friends at Chambersburg Optical. After marrying and relocating to the Harrisburg area, she gained experience managing larger optical dispensaries and became skilled in the trade of Lab Technician, which is the actual fabrication of eyeglasses. She is also certified by the American Board of Opticianry.

After having her two children, Carmen decided to start a wholesale laboratory in the basement of her home. During this time, she manufactured eyeglasses for retail sale and dispensed safety glasses to local businesses. Becoming aware through family and friends of the need for a friendly, personalized service optical shop in central PA, she opened Hampden Optical in 1996.

With over 40 years of experience, Carmen operates a successful optical shop that is like no other in the area. The inviting and friendly atmosphere, along with great camaraderie among staff will make your visit most enjoyable.
